Thank you for your interest in the Rutgers Gardens Spring Plant Sale!
Tickets to the Spring Plant Sale are free, but required. Thanks to the enthusiasm of everyone in the community, all Saturday and Sunday time slots for the general public are currently claimed. Our waitlist for tickets has also reached maximum capacity and has been closed. If you have already added your name and contact information to the waitlist, please stay tuned for any announcements regarding ticket availability.
The 2024 Rutgers Gardens Spring Plant Sale will be held Friday, May 3rd through Sunday, May 5th. We’ll have a selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, trees, and shrubs available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale help support the Rutgers Gardens Student Internship Program.

Check your county’s Cooperative Extension website or keep an eye on the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station events calendar to see when these plant sale details are added.
Plants remaining after the Rutgers Gardens Spring Plant Sale will also be sold on Fridays at Cook’s Market beginning May 17th (11am-3pm).
Tickets to the Spring Plant Sale are free, but required, and allow entrance and parking for one vehicle. With a ticket, you may bring as many guests as fit safely in your vehicle. Each person may select one (1) total ticket to attend the sale throughout the entire weekend.
We have partnered with ticketing platform Tix.com to manage our ticketed events in 2024. You’ll need to create a customer account at Tix.com with your email address and a password while processing your ticket selection. Please save your login information in a safe place!
Due to recent major updates in the availability of overflow parking, attendance capacity for upcoming events at Rutgers Gardens will be limited. Where cars were once able to park in a grassy area just past the Holly Collection and across Log Cabin Road, new regulations for a gas line right-of-way running parallel to Route 1 now prohibit cars from being parked in that area. For the upcoming Spring Plant Sale, this means we will only be able to welcome a very limited number of cars on site at a time. We ask for your understanding and patience as we navigate this new situation.
While the attendance levels at the Spring Plant Sale will be smaller this year, we hope that translates to a relaxed and enjoyable shopping experience with a smooth traffic flow.
Important Notes:
- Rutgers Gardens will be closed to the public May 3rd-5th, open only to ticketed Spring Plant Sale registrants.
- Plant quantities are limited, so unfortunately there is no guarantee that all desired plant varieties will be available at the sale. The list of plants being sold at the sale will be provided to ticketholders via email and be added to this webpage at a later date.
- There are no pre-orders.
- Children must be supervised at all times while on site.
- Pets are not permitted on site during the Spring Plant Sale.
- We encourage you to bring a wagon if you anticipate purchasing multiple plants!
Thank you for supporting Rutgers Gardens!
