
Rutgers Gardens is the perfect backdrop for both ceremonies and receptions. Enjoy the tranquil, natural setting you as you mingle with your guests around the picturesque log cabin and sip cocktails on the back porch. The informal charm of the log cabin and pavilion provide a lovely, rustic yet elegant experience sure to create lasting memories of your special day!
Due to the seasonal nature of Rutgers Gardens, facility rentals are only available May through October.
The Rutgers Gardens venue rental is available to Rutgers Gardens Members and Rutgers University Departments only. For new members wishing to join, membership can be processed at the time of rental confirmation.
All events require a $500.00 security deposit to reserve a date.
Client and their Vendors must provide proof of insurance; a copy to be retained in the Gardens Office.
Events with more than 100 guests require parking attendants hired through Country Club Services.
Rentals are not available on Mondays as the Gardens is closed to all visitors.
We offer two gorgeous locations for wedding ceremonies at Rutgers Gardens:
- The Roy DeBoer Evergreen Garden (can accommodate up to 200 people).
- The Art Rudolph Sun and Shade Garden (can accommodate up to 150 people).
Ceremony Only
Morning ceremonies are available from 8:00am until 12:00pm. Afternoon ceremonies are available from 1pm until 5pm. All ceremonies include:
- Use of one of the ceremony locations.
- Photography permit for the grounds.
- Use of the log cabin and pavilion (in case of rain or inclement weather).
- White chairs for up to 50 guests.
- Additional seating is available at $2.00 per chair.
- Allotted time for weekday rehearsal must be scheduled at least two (2) weeks in advance.
Reception Only
Reception rentals are available during afternoon hours only. Receptions may begin as early as 1:00pm and must be over by 6:00pm. Rental includes:
- Photography permit for the grounds.
- Use of the log cabin and pavilion for the reception.
- Maximum seating:
- Log Cabin – 25 guests
- Pavilion – 120 Guests. An extension tent, arranged by your caterer for an additional charge, provides for a total 200 guests.
- Tent-like sides for the pavilion, if needed for inclement weather.
Ceremony and Reception
Ceremonies may begin as early as 8:00am and receptions must be over by 6:00pm. Rental includes:
- Use of one of the ceremony locations.
- Photography permit for the grounds.
- Use of the log cabin and pavilion for the reception.
- Maximum seating:
- Log Cabin – 25 guests
- Pavilion – 120 Guests. An additional extension tent, arranged by your caterer, for an additional fee, for a total of 200 guests.
- Tent-like sides for the pavilion, if needed for inclement weather.
- Allotted time for weekday rehearsal must be scheduled at least two (2) weeks in advance
*No ceremonies or receptions can be booked on Mondays when the Gardens are closed.
