Rutgers Gardens relies heavily on private support to cultivate inquisitive minds and great plants and to inspire gardening through educational exploration and enjoyment. Funding comes from philanthropic gifts and bequests as well as from special fundraising events such as our annual plant sale, educational workshops, and facilities rental revenues.
The Gardens are open year-round for public enjoyment. Admission is free of charge so everyone can readily explore, learn, and grow at Rutgers Gardens. As part of Rutgers University, Rutgers Gardens also provides experiential and service learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. It is a living laboratory for faculty and staff to conduct valuable research to better serve the landscape, nursery, and public horticulture industry.
