Pruning Techniques for the Homeowner (Workshop)

March 2, 2019 | 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$60
butterfly on yellow flower

The 3 W’s of pruning – the When, Where and Why – are typically reduced to a thoughtless shaping of plants with electric shears!  This class will discuss the various methods of pruning small trees, shrubs and shade trees, the time of year various plants should be pruned and how proper pruning can produce not only unique growth responses, but a healthier, more attractive and longer-lived plant.  Bring along your own pruners and handsaw, or you can purchase tools during the class as this will be a “hands-on” program in the Gardens that you can actively participate in should you wish.  Fruit trees will not be covered.  Please dress accordingly.
