*** Update June 17, 2021
We are looking forward to tonight’s Celebration!
Registration will remain open until 7:15 pm EDT.
For technical issues, please email email@example.com since it’s being checked through the evening until 8:00 pm, when the program is scheduled to conclude.
Garden Communicators International recognized Ken with their 2020 Gold Award for his most recent book, The Scentual Garden, which was also named the American Horticultural Society’s book of the year. Those awards followed a gold medal for his previous book, The New Shade Garden: Creating a Lush Oasis in the Age of Climate Change, and another for 2013’s work, Natural Companions – a collaboration with scanner photographer Ellen Hoverkamp. Also in that year, the Smithsonian Institute announced the acquisition of the “Ken Druse Collection of Garden Photography” comprising over 50,000 transparencies available to the public for study and to promote the love of gardens and plants.
Not to be outdone, The Garden Club of America presented Ken with the Sarah Chapman Francis Medal for lifetime achievement in garden communication.
The celebration will include a video tour of Ken in his Sussex County garden – followed by a live question & answer session with Ken.
This fundraiser will support Rutgers Gardens as a place of peace, beauty, and safety for enjoyment by all of our visitors. Celebrate a Garden State Gardener is a one-time special event during the COVID-19 pandemic spearheaded by the Advisory Board to help demonstrate Rutgers Gardens is an example of the Rutgers Land Grant mission of teaching, research, and service in the 21st Century.
Rutgers Gardens members and volunteers will be invited to register before the general public.
