The American Cheese Society (ACS) held its national conference and cheese competition on August 4, 2012 in Raleigh, N.C. 1,711 cheese entries from producers throughout the country competed in over 70 ‘category’ groups for the number one position in each category.
The top three cheeses in the United States were chosen by a slate of judges comprising the best technical and organoleptic cheese experts in the country.
1st place; FlagsheepBeecher's Handmade Cheese, Washington
2nd place Crema de Blue, Valley Shepherd Creamery. This is the first national placement for a New Jersey made Cheese.
