Acorus calamus ‘Variegatus’ (Variegated Sweetflag) – Broad sword-like foliage with white margins.  Best in moist soils or submerged in water.

Acorus gramineus ‘Ogon’ (Yellow Sweetflag) – Grass-like foliage with evergreen chartreuse foliage.  Can also be grown in average garden soil!  Full sun to light shade.  Grows to 12-14” tall.

Juncus effusus ‘Spiralis’ (Corkscrew Rush) – An evergreen twisted ‘grass’ that resembles a corkscrew or a pigs tail!

Peltandra virginica (Arrow Arum) – Native to wet sites and swamps in NJ.  The arrow-shaped leaves are interesting for texture throughout the summer.  Prefers full sun.

Sagitaria gramineus (Arrowhead) – Native to NJ, this full sun plant grows to 3’ or more in height, with leaves that are more linear in shape.

Typha angustifolia (Narrowleaf Cattail) – Growing to 4’ in height, this especially narrow leaf form of cattail adds a delicate texture to the pond or bog garden.  Perfectly hardy in NJ.

Typha latifolia ‘Variegata’ (Variegated Cattail) – Similar to the above, but the foliage is slightly broader, and the leaf in edged in white.  Very striking!

Nymphoides peltata (Water Fringe) – Appearing like small water lilies, the 1-4” diameter leaves float on the surface.  Small yellow flowers are produced in May into June.
