Gardens Gala

Rutgers Gardens at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, will host the Third Annual Gardens Gala on September 12, 2009 from 4 pm - 8pm. At the gala, the “Hamilton Award for Dedication and Outstanding Commitment to the Rutgers Gardens” (named for our friend and longtime colleague, “Doc” Hamilton) will be presented to Rutgers alumni, who have played a pivotal role in the growth of the gardens.

During the past 60 years, alumni have been among Rutgers Gardens’ greatest supporters, donating their time, money, and resources. The Alumni Pavilion and the brick patio were made possible through alumni donations and the fundraising efforts of the Cook Community Alumni Association. With the support of Rutgers alumni past, present, and future, Rutgers Gardens will be alive and growing for future generations to enjoy.

In that vein, the Gardens Gala will also be the kick-off for fundraising toward a proposed visitor’s center. This is the first step in the Rutgers Gardens Master Plan, a plan that will advance the gardens’ commitment to education, research, and outreach.

Ticket sales for the event, which will be held at the gardens, will be on a first-come, first-served basis; seating is limited to 250 guests. For more information, please contact Mary Ann Schrum at the Rutgers Gardens office: 732-932-8451 or schrum@aesop.rutgers.edu.

Help support the Gardens by becoming a 2009 Gala sponsor or donating something to our silent auction. Feel free to call the Gardens office with any questions.
