Our Mission
Growing from our research roots to thrive as a university botanical garden for all, providing nature-based experiences to educate, engage, and delight.
Visit the Gardens
Rutgers Gardens is the 180-acre public botanic garden of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. It features display gardens, natural spaces, a student vegetable farm, and university research areas. Rutgers Gardens is a “living laboratory” for both university and community learning and engagement.
Education & Engagement
Rutgers Gardens aspires to become a core academic resource for Rutgers students across disciplines, as well as to achieve recognition as a welcoming, educational hub for community visitors.
Support the Gardens
Rutgers Gardens welcomes contributions to support our work planting trees, shrubs, and perennials with ecological benefits; maintaining our cultivated gardens and natural areas; supporting campus and community food security; and providing educational opportunities to Rutgers students through the Summer Internship Program. These benefits extend to the community in providing a safe, beautiful green space that is open to all with no admission fee.
